Lauca National Park and Sajama National Park Tour

Day 1. Arica - Putre

Departure of the Tour at 10:30 hrs. We will visit the Agricultural Terminal to see a typical market. We will enter the Azapa Valley, on the way we will observe the La Tropilla Geoglyph and visit the San Miguel de Azapa Museum. We will cross towards the Lluta Valley where we will have a view of both valleys. We will have lunch in an Ecotruly ecological community. We will appreciate the candelabra cactus and the magnetic zone, we will visit a pre-Inca fortress in Copaquilla and we will visit a foothill town of Socoroma 3000 meters above sea level. We will walk towards this town for approximately 1 hour, a short break (coffee and cookies). Arrival at Putre 3500 MSN at 6:30 p.m. approximately. Dinner and accommodation.

Day 2. Putre - Lauca National park - Parinacota

Departure from the accommodation in Putre at 08:30 hrs. approx. We will have breakfast in Putre or in Termas de Jurasi. To continue later to the Bofedal de las Cuevas where we will walk for 40 min. On the way we will see wild vicuñas, vizcachas and we will know bofedales, the base of the ecosystem in the altiplano (Mirador Bofedal de Parinacota). We will be able to admire a great variety of birds such as the pitios del norte, guallatas, coots, among others. We will admire the Chungara Lake and the Cotacotani Lagoons where we will hike for approximately 3 hours (optional). We will have a picnic - lunch in the town of Parinacota, we will tour the town. Lodging at Leonel Teran's house (basic). Dinner.

Day 3. Parinacota - Sajama National Park - Arica

Breakfast in the town of Parinacota. Departure towards the Chungara Lake Border Complex. After checking the International Police there are 7 km to the border with Bolivia. Immediately after you find the town of Tambo Quemado. Here is the Bolivian customs control. Near here and in the direction of La Paz, is the Estancia Lagunas, where the small church of the Virgen de los Remedios de Lagunas, from the 18th century, is located. Inside it keeps wall paintings. Its tower is separate and has a small chapel with a Calvary cross. Behind the presbytery there is a small cemetery. Further on to the left, the old route that passes through the highland town of Sajama continues, whose layout is pre-Hispanic. It preserves the beautiful Virgen de la Navidad de Sajama church, from the 18th century. The Sajama National Park, created in 1939, to protect the Bolivian high Andean ecosystem that includes queñoa forests, tolares, bofedales and high altitude grasslands. In addition, it constitutes a protection area for vicuñas, rheas and quirquinchos, among other species. We will visit the Wichu Khollu Hot Springs, where we will have our usual picnic, with impressive views of the snow-capped Sajama Parinacota and Pomerape, these mountains highly frequented by climbers from all over the world. Return to Arica. Arrival in this city at approximately 6:00 p.m.
